ProLifeBlogs.com is Top Website of 2013

From over at The Margaret Sanger Blog:

There are some great prolife websites and we visit many of them daily and link to a lot of the top ones.  Of course, Life News, Foundation Life Pro-life News, ProLife Unity News and LifeSiteNews are must reads every day;  our tremendous national organizations all have very helpful websites, Priests for Life, Human Life International, American Life League, National Right to Life, Sisters of Life, the tremendously effective Life Dynamics, Operation Rescue, our personal favorite Forty Days for Life, and of course Lila Rose and her wonderful organization Live Action.

There are also the websites that we here at the Margaret Sanger Blog rely on very heavily : Klanned Parenthood, TooManyAborted, Black Genocide,  and Abort73.  Students for Life is an invaluable site.  We love Life Decisions International and its effort to defund the bloodthirsty haters at
Planned Parenthood - same with STOPP Planned Parenthood. The quite useful, yet underrated site at ProLifeAmerica, is a favorite.  The Center for Bio-Ethical Reform is a definite life-saver.

A few more must visits are Maafa 21, 180 Movie, and The Culture of Life Review.   Unique and innovative efforts are also our favorites, so we are big fans of Save the Storks.  You will also want to keep an eye on Grace Daigler, a forward thinking Franciscan University student, and her new effort Equipped to EngageOnline for Life is another brilliant new effort.  Heartbeat International is also doing some good work.  On the local level, there are great organizations across the country, way too many to mention, but a special shout out this year goes to the gutsy folks at Cleveland Right to Life.

Countless men and women are clearly doing heroic work and we are surely missing a bunch of sites worthy of mention.  And that is why we can not even begin to list all the great bloggers who each and every day make the case for life and bring to light profound and meaningful pro-life stories.  With so many valuable and informative blogs having one central prolife blog that pulls them all-together is extremely useful - that blog is Pro-Life Blogs.  For this reason and for giving a united voice to all the wonderful pro-life bloggers, we name ProLifeBlogs the top website of 2013.

ProLifeBlogs.com is an independent news site created to capitalize on weblog technology as an uncompromising defender of the sanctity of human life.

Politics at Wikipedia

Be sure to check this out, Do Propagandists from Klanned Parenthood Control Margaret Sanger Wikipedia Page? , over at the Margaret Sanger Blog.

So we went over to the Wikipedia discussion page for Sanger,  and sure enough there are numerous documented cases of censorship where relevant, racist quotes from Margaret Sanger have been edited out of her Wikipedia page.   Much of the important relevant information concerning Sanger's Hitler-like views on eugenics has also been excluded.ight.

We would love to see some knowledgeable pro-lifers help set the record straight.

President of Belmont Abbey College Talks About His New Book

We are very, big fans of Catholic Lane.

Catholic Lane is dedicated to providing online Catholic readers timely Catholic news and articles on every aspect of the Catholic faith – from catechesis to business tips to inspirational stories – all loyal to Catholic teaching.

It was over there that we stumbled upon the fact that the President of one of our favorite universities, Belmont Abbey College, has written a new book.

Read the complete article, Raising the Bar in Every Area of Life, over at Catholic Lane, but here is a brief excerpt:

As a two-time NCAA Division I All-American and National Champion high jumper, Bill Thierfelder had long been accustomed to raising the bar in a literal sense.

Now, he does so in a metaphorical way by promoting excellence and virtue in every aspect of life. In fact, each light post at Belmont Abbey College is adorned with a banner reading “Excellence & Virtue,” serving as a reminder of what every member of the Belmont Abbey community is called to embody.

Thierfelder has frequently spoken about his insights into a virtuous life in classrooms, boardrooms, meeting halls and training facilities across the country.

Now, for the first time, he is imparting this knowledge through a book, from TAN/St. Benedict Press, called Less Than a Minute to Go: The Secret to World-Class Performance in Sport, Business and Everyday Life.

He recently spoke with the Register about his new book, pursuing virtue and the state of Catholic higher education.

Why did you write your new book, Less Than a Minute to Go?

That’s a great question, since I really had no time to write it, and I have never considered myself a writer. Being president of a college is almost a 24/7 job, and my wife, Mary, and I have 10 children, so spare chunks of time are few and far between. (We are still praying for the gift of bilocation!) Add to that the fact that I’d never written a book before, and you’re talking to one of the least likely candidates for the job.

I never thought I’d write a book, but friends would encourage me to get one out. They wanted me to share, in a written format, some of the insights I’d gained over the years. I can’t claim any credit for those insights; that credit goes to the Holy Spirit. However, I did see the validity of my friends’ point. A book would be a great way to reach beyond the immediate Belmont Abbey community to share great things with others.

I knew if I wrote a book that I would donate all of the royalties to Belmont Abbey College. The final validation for writing the book came when St. Benedict Press asked me to write it and then offered to donate all of their profits from the book to the college. Unlike larger schools, we have a very small endowment with which to support our operations, so the opportunity to bring in funds for the school was an important consideration. Not only would I be able to share helpful insights and techniques with others in a new way, but I would at the same time be able to help support the college.

It was a sometimes arduous path, as I often stayed up until 3am writing. Then, on what was supposed to be our family vacation, I wrote all day and night. Without the encouragement and editorial advice of my entire family, including my 6-year-old, Matthew, it would not have been possible. In fact, by making it a family affair, it brought us even closer together.

The book isnt only for athletes, is it?

The book is filled with examples of how athletes from various sports perform at the highest levels, but it shows how anyone, at any level, can significantly improve their performance. On the deepest level, it is also a book about how to be truly happy in this life and the next. The book shows how world-class performance and virtue are not mutually exclusive and why we will be most successful and happy when pursuing both.

Sport is a wonderful metaphor for illustrating how virtues are developed and strengthened over time. It provides an environment that can reveal insights about how our bodies, minds and souls work. While the book may be a great aid to anyone looking to improve athletic performance, it also offers tips and advice for improving other areas of life.

The first section of the book, [about] preparing the mind to win, helps us to see ourselves and others more clearly and avoid the ways of thinking that can hurt our performances. The second section, [focusing on] making peak performance a common occurrence, shows how and why peak performances happen. The third and final section, [on] playing with a passion that never ends, shows how sacrifice is essential to our success and happiness in this life and the next.

A recurring theme of the book is that, ultimately, what we do is far more important than what we say. We hope people’s words will match their actions; but in the end, the way you really know them is by what they did, not by what they said. Having given us life and free will, God is essentially asking us, “Do you love me?” Our response to that question comes forth very clearly by the way we choose to live our lives.

Margaret Sanger the Movie Should Open with her Speaking at Cross Burning KKK Rally

Margaret Sanger

As discussed over at the Margaret Sanger Blog today, it is time for some creative folks to make a movie about the life of Margaret Sanger.  A historical novel could also be great.  Get to it folks.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From the Margaret Sanger Blog:

"OK, Set the Crosses on Fire It's Time for the Birth Control Lecture" or Margaret Sanger and the KKK
The Wikipedia entry on Margaret Sanger cracks us up.  It states, in pertinent part, the following:

In 1926, Sanger gave a lecture on birth control to the women's auxiliary of the Ku Klux Klan in Silver Lake, New Jersey.[37] ... Sanger's talk was well received by the group, and as a result, "a dozen invitations to similar groups were proffered."[37]

The first noteworthy thing is that nowhere in the Margaret Sanger autobiography does Sanger state that she spoke to the Ku Klux Klan about "birth control."  The "birth control" line has just been thrown in to her Wikipedia entry by Planned Parenthood types to try and soften the blow for those reading for the first time about Margaret Sanger and the Ku Klux Klan.

Imagine the surprise the typical Feminist Studies major experiences when she first stumbles across the uncomfortable fact that her hero was invited to speak to various hate groups 13 different times.  Woops, Professor Feminazi never mentioned that one in class.  Let's just label these invites "birth control lectures," right?

Here is Sanger's account of her trip to talk to the Ku Klux Klan from pages 366-367 of Margaret Sanger An Autobiograph.  You will see no mention of a birth control lecture but you will note that there were burning crosses:

Always to me any aroused group was a good group, and therefore I accepted an invitation to talk to the women's branch of the Ku Klux Klan at Silver Lake, New Jersey, one of the weirdest experiences I had in lecturing.

    ***

After three hours I was summoned at last and entered a bright corridor filled with wraps. As someone came out of the hall I saw through the door dim figures parading with banners and illuminated crosses. I waited another twenty minutes. It was warmer and I did not mind so much. Eventually the lights were switched on, the audience seated itself, and I was escorted to the platform, was introduced, and began to speak

.    ***

In the end, through simple illustrations I believed I had accomplished my purpose. A dozen invitations to speak to similar groups were proffered. The conversation went on and on, and when we were finally through it was too late to return to New York.

  ____________________________________________________________

Several questions quickly come to mind from this brief account.

1)  If it was a "birth control lecture" as claimed by the Planned Parenthood flunkies editing her Wikipedia page, why were the burning crosses and banners necessary?  Sounds more like a typical hate filled KKK rally.

 2) We note that following the cross burning KKK rally, Sanger received "a dozen invitations to speak to similar groups."  What did Margaret Sanger say to this hate group that lead to so many subsequent invites?

 3) Why have historians by and large simply ignored this event?

 4)  Would it not be fascinating to see a re-enactment of this event?

5) As we have noted before, if Margaret Sanger was a conservative pro-lifer, her name would never appear in print without the label "frequent Ku Klux Klan Speaker."  Why have pro-lifers so far failed to successfully tie Margaret Sanger to the Ku Klux Klan?  Afterall, as Martin Luther King's own niece has noted: “The most obvious practitioner of racism in the United States today is Planned Parenthood, an organization founded by the eugenicist Margaret Sanger and recently documented as ready to accept money to eliminate black babies” - Dr. Alveda King.

We renew our call for pro-life bloggers, movie makers and artists to find unique and innovative ways to educate the public about the hate-filled past that gave birth to the evil empire that is Planned Parenthood.

Tuscany Press Seeks to Revitalize Catholic Fiction

We think Tuscany Press is one of he most exciting efforts out there.  Please read about it below and do everything you can to support it!

Why Tuscany Press?

Publisher

We at Tuscany Press have been asked many times:  Why Tuscany Press?

Let me start by inviting you into the world of Catholic readers as I have experienced it.  After being a part of parish book club for many years, I noticed if we wanted to read good Catholic fiction we had to reach back to the writers of last century -  Flannery O’Conner, Walker Percy, Graham Greene, and then further back to JRR Tolkien and GK Chesterton.  Good contemporary Catholic fiction did not exist.

We asked our selves:  How could that be?  There are writers, perhaps great ones, who are Catholic.  Why wasn’t there Catholic fiction?  We tried to find a publisher dedicated to Catholic fiction, but we could not find one.  We tried to find a Catholic Fiction Literary Prize that might guide us to recent works of Catholic fiction but we could not find one.

As Catholics and all Christians know, we live in a world filled with the presence of God – a living God.  We have always believed that our stories should reflect this fact – this reality.  We believe in redemption, forgiveness, grace and love – a true love born from God.  We may live in a broken world with fallible people, including ourselves, but God’s grace breaks into this reality.

Maybe it was a nudge from above, or simply a human insight that caused me to found and launch Tuscany Press.  Certainly it was, in part, because of my strong belief that the stories we read should reflect the truth of God’s presence – a loving presence.

As for the Tuscany Prize for Catholic Fiction, I believe there are great unpublished works of contemporary Catholic fiction somewhere in the world.   The Tuscany Prize is our invitation to gifted writers to dare to bring their creations to the world.  We are determined to discover and present both the works and the writers to the readers of the world. - PJM, Founder and Publisher

Editor

I’ve been asked what makes a piece of writing a Tuscany Press story, what makes a work a Tuscany Press work?

First of all, as an editor who’s read many texts—both fiction and nonfiction—I look not just for good writing, but writing that’s stellar, and writing that compels me to think, to imagine. Yes, I may want to be “merely” entertained, but I also want to see the world differently after having read a story. I want a piece of writing to stick with me after I finish the last page and close the book.

Second, I’m looking for writing that’s not just stellar and original, but also writing that has a Catholic perspective. The story may, but not required, have cultural Catholicism (e.g., kneeling, genuflecting, praying, the presence of clergy in the story, a character who prays the Rosary or who goes to Mass regularly), but most importantly Catholic meaning—that is, small instances of a protagonist’s faith, or doubt, sprinkled throughout the story, culminating in a Catholic theme that somehow presents a Catholic message or truth that we (and maybe the protagonist) can discover or realize more fully or in a new way.

Good, Catholic writing delivers all this—and often much more. I believe wholly in good, solid writing and the themes of redemption, forgiveness, hope, and more. We can see, all around us and in each Tuscany Press story, that the world can be full of evil and despair, but as human beings—and as Catholic human beings—the world is also home to light and care, goodness and God's grace. Tuscany Press seeks to promulgate this message. - EC, Editor

When Will We See the Margaret Sanger and the Ku Klux Klan Movie?

A lot of buzz today about Margaret Sanger, her racist past, her 13 invitations to speak at Ku Klux Klan rallies, and Planned Parenthood's current "success" at basically annihilating more than half of African Americans before birth.

Since we are dedicated to spreading the prolife message through film and the arts, we thought we would just highlight one point made over at the Margaret Sanger Blog:

Sure Archbold is basically just  outlining The Silver Lake Conspiracy which was first postulated a little over six years ago.  But it needs to be repeated frequently.  If Margaret Sanger was a conservative pro-lifer, her name would never appear in print without the label "frequent Ku Klux Klan Speaker."  (You may want to add that to your Style Guide, pro-life bloggers).  Thankfully, more and more experts are now coming to the same conclusions drawn by The Silver Lake Conspiracy and when someone has the guts to put together all the links and come out with a major blockbuster documentary, the world will never see Planned Parenthood the same way.

If you are a pro-life novelist or film-maker, get to work.  This sounds like a great topic.

Catholic Parish Steps Forward to Produce New Film: "Five Blocks Away”

OK, you gotta love this idea we stumbled across at kickstarter.  The movie's name is Five Blocks Away.  It is being produced by a Catholic Parish.  And they are hoping to release it in 2014.  Simply tremendous.  We at the Culture of Life Review encourage you to support this effort however you can!
See all the details below and go visit the website.

From the Five Blocks Away Website:

About the Project

This will be the first motion picture produced by a Catholic Parish and will focus on reaching the young adult audience. The future relies on the seeds we plant today and in order to make an impact on that future and lay a path full of hope, it is with great anticipation that Siena Pictures will be pushing for a theatrical release for the “Five Blocks Away” movie in 2014.

Synopsis of the Film

Anthony Seton lives the modern definition of the perfect life. Young and handsome, with a successful job and an active social scene, everything that today’s society covets seems well within his grasp. But when a series of circumstances challenges the foundations of that world, he realizes that life as defined by secular truths may not be much of a life at all—and that the real answer is a lot closer than he thinks.

How to Change Hearts & Minds? Discover Zac Ryan

Our friends at The Margaret Sanger Blog highlight a very important upcoming film:

We have been saying for some time here that there needs to be a sustained effort to change our culture through prolife films, books, music and other artistic efforts.

I am glad to see this guy, Richard Clark Jr., has the same idea:

Introducing Producer Richard Clark Jr.

Hello! My name is Richard Clark, Jr., and I am a Producer on Discover Zac Ryan. This is my fist message to you. Thank you in advance for giving me a few seconds of your time.

Our passion is not focused on changing the laws when it comes to abortion. Changing the laws is important, but at the end of the day people will still do what they feel they need to do; they will just do it illegally.  Simply put, our passion is focused on changing HEARTS when it comes to abortion. Laws can provide temporary roadblocks, but when we are facing the greatest moral failure of our existence we need much more than roadblocks- we need paradigm shifts. This is why I joined the Discover Matt Ryan team. What Corey has pitched to us is much more than a film; it’s a vehicle that will allow us to reach hearts. It is a game changer. I will not hide the reason I am emailing you today. I am writing to ask for you to join our team by making a donation to our film.  You can do so by clicking this link OR by emailing Corey to let him know you are sending a check. Give Here

Corey is not standing on the sidelines with his project. He is on the front line of this war and please do not mistake; this is in fact a war. Maybe the greatest we have ever witnessed. Take out political jargon, right v left, etc… Say to yourself, “Since Roe v Wade there have been more than55 MILLION babies KILLED.” That is 55,000,000 lives. Hearing these words made me join the battle. They made me join the Discover Zac Ryan team. What will they do for you? The sidelines are a very nice and peaceful place to live. Living there will assure us that forty years from now we will be saying, “Since Roe v Wade there have been more than 110 MILLION babies KILLED.” That is 110,000,000 lives.”

Will you PLEASE join this fight with us?

Update from Facebook page yesterday:

Everyone from the Discover Zac Ryan team wants to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!! We are very, very thankful for all the support given from so many. We are grateful for the opportunity to share such a powerful story/film. With that, I am ex...cited to share we are looking at a February 2014 limited theatrical release date! If you would like to be part of our church captain's (spread-the-word) team, please send a FB message! Thanks again!
